Loving Earth's Brazil Nuts are grown and wild harvested by an indigenous group from the jungle around the Rio Madre de Dios region, bordering on Bolivia and Brasil in the south-eastern corner of Peru. They're particularly notable for their Fair Trade basis. With production of brazil nuts from this region widely condemned for its child labour practices, it’s of the utmost importance for us to know that our produce isn’t exploitative. We’re happy to report that the Fair Trade Labelling Organisation has audited the operation and confirmed that our Brazil Nuts are Fair Trade Certified. Eating these Brazil Nuts supports conservation of the Amazon jungle.
A great source of Omega 3 and 6 as well as Vitamin E, thiamine, copper, manganese, magnesium, calcium, phosphorous and zinc. Interestingly, Brazil Nuts have been found to be one of the richest dietary sources of selenium.
With a rich buttery flavour, our Brazil Nuts are quite sweet. Enjoy them as a snack, add them to salads, or use them in desserts.
The vast majority of brazil nuts on the market are high-temperature steam treated before they’re cracked. Loving Earth Brazil Nuts are treated at a much lower temperature, helping preserve the vital nutrients within.
Although our Brazil Nuts grow wild in the forest, our harvesting operation is certified organic. When products like this grow in the wild, Organic Certification means that there’s no pollution contaminating the land and area where the harvest takes place, and also ensures that the harvest is carried out in a sustainable way.
Brazil Nut trees can live up to 1000 years and require biodiversity for pollination and growth, which make them a sustainable source of income for indigenous people of the area, in addition to helping preserve the Amazon. This sort of agriculture is far preferable to the decimation of the rainforest to make way for sugarcane, soybean or cattle production.

A great source of Omega 3 and 6 as well as Vitamin E, thiamine, copper, manganese, magnesium, calcium, phosphorous and zinc. With very high protein levels, a further notable aspect of our Brazil Nuts is that they’re the highest dietary source of selenium available.
Selenium is a rare mineral which is incorporated into proteins to make selenoproteins, which are important antioxidant enzymes. The antioxidant properties of selenoproteins help prevent cellular damage from free radicals, which are natural by-products of oxygen metabolism that may contribute to the development of chronic diseases such as cancer and heart disease. Other selenoproteins help regulate thyroid function and play a role in the immune system.
